Are you planning to complete The Old Hearts in Hollow Knight: Silksong? This is a late-game quest, one that takes you through several regions of Pharloom. You should be well-prepared because there are numerous challenges that await. Oh, and be forewarned that this article contains major spoilers, too.

How to complete The Old Hearts in Hollow Knight: Silksong - Act 3 main quest guide

The Old Hearts is a main quest that's part of Act 3 in the campaign. Here's a quick summary:

• Make sure you complete the Silk and Soul quest to gain access to Act 3.
• Progress through Act 3 normally and chat with the Snail Shamans in Mosshome. Then, head to the Abyss. At the bottommost section, you'll learn that there's no way to drop down the dark muck.
• Obtain the Farsight item and the Silksoar super jump. Next, escape from the Abyss.
• Back at Mosshome, the Snail Shamans will grant you the Elegy of the Deep ability for your Needolin. This lets you enter Pharloom's forgotten past.
• The Old Hearts quest appears in your journal. Your goal is to obtain the Hunter's Heart, Encrusted Heart, and Pollen Heart. When you arrive at the marked locations, play the Elegy of the Deep to be transported to a new area.

Note 1: This part of the game consists of numerous platforming sections and boss battles. It goes without saying that you want your character to be in tip-top condition. You can refer to our guides on Mask Shards, Spool Fragments, and Pale Oil if you need help with character upgrades.

You can tackle each objective in the Hollow Knight: Silksong The Old Hearts quest in any order you see fit. That said, we opted to do the Hunter's Heart task first.

• Location: Hunter's March to Far Fields - You need to make your way to the rabbit statue in Hunter's March first. Use your Silksoar to reach a secret passageway that leads to another section of Far Fields.
• Boss fight: Skarrsinger Karmelita
• Other points-of-interest: The far-right section leads to an encounter with an NPC named Sprintmaster Swift. Win all the races to receive a Mask Shard.

• Location: Sands of Karak - You should now be able to reach the top of the rightmost shaft using your Silksoar super jump. Keep going to the left and enter the shell dome. Before you play the Needolin, look for a bench in the small nook to the right.
• Boss fights: Raging Conchfly and Crust King Khann
• Other points-of-interest:
  • You can fight an optional boss called Voltvyrm in the Voltnest mini-dungeon. It's at the very top of the central shaft.
  • Crust King Khann is in the Coral Tower. Before you can fight him, you have to contend with roughly 30 waves of enemies spread across multiple encounters. If you're defeated by Crust King Khann, you'll respawn at the bench in the throne room. You still have to redo the last gauntlet encounter before the boss fight.

• Location: Grand Gate - For this part of the Hollow Knight: Silksong The Old Hearts quest, you need to go to the main elevator shaft in the Citadel's Grand Gate. Use your Silksoar and follow the narrow passageways back to the shaft. Keep to the left as you fall down the shaft until you notice a breakable wall. Keep hitting it to reveal a path that leads to a secret area.
• Boss fight: Shrine Guardian Seth and Nyleth.
• Other points-of-interest: N/A

After acquiring the Hunter's Heart, Encrusted Heart, and Pollen Heart, return to the Snail Shamans. This leads to a short segment called Red Memory. Once you've done that, Hornet will receive the Everbloom, a special ability that allows her to go deeper into the dark vortex of the Abyss.
