Game Of Thrones Illustrated Edition Series Returns After 5-Year Wait
It's not The Winds of Winter, but A Song of Ice and Fire fans can soon enjoy the long-awaited Illustrated Edition of A Feast for Crows.
Following a lengthy wait, A Song of Ice and Fire's Illustrated Edition series is set to return this fall with A Feast for Crows. The Illustrated Edition of the fourth novel in George R. R. Martin's epic fantasy series will be published on November 4, almost exactly five years after the release of the previous entry, A Storm of Swords: The Illustrated Edition. Game of Thrones fans can preorder A Feast for Crows: The Illustrated Edition for $50 at Amazon.
Note that reserving a copy at Amazon means you won't pay until it's shipped, and you'll be eligible for any price cuts between now and November 4.
The Illustrated Edition series debuted in 2016 with A Game of Thrones. Following a three-year wait, Random House published A Clash of King's Illustrated Edition in 2019. A Storm of Swords was published one year later, but then the waiting game started. For Game of Thrones fans, the wait for this special hardcover edition of A Feast for Crows undoubtedly pales in comparison to The Winds of Winter. Nearly 14 years have passed since the release of A Dance with Dragons, so five years is nothing.
A Feast for Crows: The Illustrated Edition
$50 | Releases November 4
A Feast for Crows: The Illustrated Edition spans 800 pages and features 24 original color illustrations. This is the fourth book in A Song of Ice and Fire, so if you haven't read the first three novels, be sure to check them out first.
Here's a look at the four books in the project. The three currently available volumes are roughly $20 off each.
A Song of Ice and Fire: The Illustrated Editions
- A Game of Thrones -- $29.15 (
$50) - A Clash of Kings -- $29 (
$40) - A Storm of Swords -- $31.44 (
$40) - A Feast for Crows -- $50 | Releases November 4
The Illustrated Editions of the first three novels are quite nice, so we'd expect A Feast for Crows to retain the same quality. These books look great next to each other on a bookshelf, so hopefully the full series will eventually receive the Illustrated Edition treatment.
That said, in order for the Illustrated Edition series to be completed, the full series naturally needs to exist. A Dance with Dragons: The Illustrated Edition seems like a sure thing, but The Winds of Winter and the planned seventh and final novel, A Dream of Spring? At this point, no one really knows.

Save on hardcover editions of all five ASOIAF novels.
For lengthy novels such as A Game of Thrones, hardcover editions are great for readability and durability. Plus, doorstopper books like GRRM's fantasy series look great in hardcover.
If you're interested in upgrading your personal set to hardcovers but don't want to buy the comparatively pricey Illustrated Editions, Amazon has the standard hardcover editions available for upwards of 50% off or more.
- A Game of Thrones -- $16.44 (
$36) - A Clash of Kings -- $27.77 (
$35) - A Storm of Swords -- $25 (
$36) - A Feast for Crows -- $20 (
$36) - A Dance with Dragons -- $19 (

A Song of Ice and Fire: Leatherette Box Set
$43.22 (was $85)
For big fans of Game of Thrones, the Leatherette Box Set is worth checking out. This collectible box set includes all five (so far) books in the series with decorative covers made of leatherette and cloth. It also comes with a nice display box to hold all of the books.
It is worth emphasizing that because of the compact size of these editions, they likely won't be an ideal option for those interested in reading the series for the first time.
That said, the Leatherette Box Set is currently available for only $43, which breaks down to less than $9 per book. For a box set that looks this good, it's an awesome deal for existing fans.
A Song of Ice and Fire Paperback Editions
Mass Market Set - $35 | Paperback Set - $62
The most affordable way to get the five novels is with the A Song of Ice and Fire Paperback Mass Market Box Set for $35 (was $50). There's also a trade paperback box set with alternate cover art for $62 (was $108).
The mass market paperbacks are smaller "pocket-sized" books printed on cheaper paper. The trade paperback editions are essentially the same size as the hardcover editions, just with paperback bindings. If you're worried about readability, we'd recommend opting for the larger trade paperback editions.

Fire & Blood
Hardcover - $19 (was $35) | Paperback - $12 (was $22)
George R. R. Martin has written a number of other books set in the world of Westeros. The most notable of the bunch is Fire & Blood. Set 300 years before A Game of Thrones--and serving as the source material for House of the Dragon--Fire & Blood provides in-depth look at the history of the Targaryens. Aside from the hardcover edition, which is available for nearly 50% off, you can pick up the paperback for $12.10 (was $22).
