Sonic Crossworlds - 7/10 GS, 82 MC

Thoughts, SW? Will you be checking out Sonic Crossworlds? I played the demo and thought it was cool.. granted, I’m not that big into Kart racers, but I think I would check it out at a discount.

I was more excited for CrossWorlds over MKW anyways. I'll be getting it for sure.

Kind of what I expected. Played the demo. It was ‘ok’. Something I’ll get further down the road after a sale or two.

Sonic has failed.

I've been interested in wanting to play a solid kart racer and I might pick this up...never played a Sonic racing game

@SolidGame_basic: actually I'm interested in this game, since F nintendo. There needs to be some competition, and this seems like its it. Also, I don't trust gamespots ratings anymore...they seem to give higher ratings for sponsors

Not going to buy it at full price, will wait for a massive sale.

After the last Sonic racing game I played (TSR on Switch), I must pass.

This is really good news for me since I mostly stopped playing on PC, and moved my gaming to the Switch. But I still have a few friends who still game on PC.

This game is so much better than TSR. Going by the Open Beta. The roster alone is a huge improvement.

Edit: Is it like the last one in which you run with a npc teammate and have both characters win?

@Solaryellow: Nope, its everyone for themselves. There might be a bonus mode though that has team racing of sorts. But the biggest change is the dev team behind it. TSR was NOT made by Sonic team, this one is. Team Sonic Racing was made by Sumo Digital.

Mario Kart World got 9 and that game was boring as hell.

No thanks. But wake me up when a new Sonic 2D game is released.

The last game was severely handicapped by that team nonsense, and I wouldn't want to relive that experience again. Normal racing is something I can get onboard with and if this has the Sega themed courses and aesthetics and some depth, maybe. That last one though, one of the worst games I played on Switch but it would have been equally crappy on PS or XB.

83 on Metacritic... That's only like three points below Mario Kart World (86).

I'm actually surprised game critics are praising this, because they always hate on Sonic every chance they get.

Considering critics' track record of overrating Mario and underrating Sonic, this game must be better than Mario Kart World.

To be fair, the Sonic platformers are usually pretty garbage (even according to Sonic fans), and the Sonic racing games never feel quite as smooth as Mario Kart.

Pretty much this. Every Sonic fan, myself included, eventually comes to the realization that the sonic platformers are bad video games. And the only Sonic racing game to come close to Mario Kart was Transformed. That game was pretty damn good. I haven’t played this demo yet, but nothing has jumped out to me from the preview footage.

Speaking of bad video games. They need to either remaster Sonic R or make a new one
