Where To Find All Pale Oil Weapon Upgrades In Hollow Knight: Silksong

Are you planning to upgrade your Needle weapon by using Pale Oil in Hollow Knight: Silksong? The damage that you deal early in the game might not seem much. However, as you progress through the campaign, you're bound to find items that bolster your offense when fighting enemies.

Where to find all weapon upgrades in Hollow Knight: Silksong - Pale Oil locations guide

Upgrading your melee weapon, the Needle, requires a material known as Pale Oil. There are a few of these scattered all over the Kingdom of Pharloom. Once you've obtained them, you can hand them over to an NPC named Pinmaster Plinney to improve your gear's damage.

The first Hollow Knight: Silksong weapon upgrade comes from Pinmaster Plinney himself. He's located in the settlement of Bellhart, which is halfway between the regions of Greymoor and Shellwood.

Plinney and the rest of the citizens of Bellhart won't appear right from the get-go. That's because the town is afflicted with a curse. To remove it, you must defeat a boss named the Widow, who resides in the upper reaches of Bellhart. You can't miss this since this is actually a main quest.

In any case, once the townsfolk have been freed, jump up the ledges to reach the bellhome at the right-hand side of the chamber. Talk to Plinney to receive your first upgrade for free.

Now, you need to find Pale Oil in Hollow Knight: Silksong. This material is what's used to upgrade your weapon further past the first tier.

You can obtain one in the Whispering Vaults sub-zone of the Citadel. At the left-hand side, there's a large room with several crates. The goal is to strike the crates to create a passageway that leads to the exit to the left. Pay attention to the horizontal and vertical beams in the background, as these represent where the crates can move toward when hit.

There's another Pale Oil that can be yours if you complete a quest called Great Taste of Pharloom. This task does require a bit of effort since you have to look for five ingredients that are in specific locations of the game world. • Pickled Muckmaggot - Sinner's Road
• Crustnut - Sands of Karak
• Courier's Rasher - Bellhart

The fourth and final Hollow Knight: Silksong weapon upgrade comes from Fleatopia. This is the most time-consuming activity since it's part of an over-arching objective:

• You must rescue all 30 Lost Fleas.
• You have to discover the last moving site for the Flea Caravan in Putrefied Ducts.
• Then, you have to unlock Act 3 by completing the Silk and Soul quest.
• During Act 3, return to the Flea Caravan in Putrefied Ducts and talk to Mooshka.
• Go back to Bellhart and you'll notice a new quest on the wish board: Ecstasy of the End.
• Head to the Flea Caravan once more. It looks like they've begun their celebration. Win in all the minigames to receive your reward.
